DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE COURSES
These one day intensive courses have been running in the UK for 3 years and New Zealand for 10 years (and now available in South Africa) and have been highly successful in transforming the way therapists work with their clients. Deep Tissue Massage encourages regular clientele as the treatment is therapeutic in nature, dealing with specific problems/tension etc and has excellent results. Of course clients do not HAVE to have any particular problems to benefit from it either! Take your massage skills to the next level and create lasting results for your clients.
Very often when therapists start working deeply, they may cause themselves an injury like RSI if they do not apply the techniques correctly and safely. In this one day workshop you will learn the correct body mechanics to keep yourself healthy and learn to work deeply in a safe way.
Students will be taught a wide variety of advanced techniques which can be incorporated into an existing routine or replace existing techniques altogether. Emphasis will be on "hands on" practical application of techniques with a solid understanding of Anatomy especially the position and action of muscles. The tutor will demonstrate the techniques and there will be plenty of time to practice on fellow students.
Students will also learn:
- Principles of Deep Tissue Massage
- Correct use of hands, elbows, forearms, fists and knuckles
- Correct body mechanics to avoid injury to the therapist
- How to listen with the hands to locate areas of deep seated tension
- Troubleshooting - using specific techniques for specific problems (eg piriformis syndrome; frozen shoulder; achilles and calf tightness/pain; neck stiffness)
- Positioning of the clients body during massage to achieve maximum benefit from techniques
Students will be continually assessed during the course to ensure they have mastered the techniques. There will be no formal written exam however students are expected to present case studies and a practical test between 1 and 3 months after completion before receiving their certificate.
